Valdosta - Some South Georgia children got their Christmas presents a few days early.

Tuesday, Valdosta Police officers delivered more than 200 toys to children living in the Hudson Dockett housing project. The toys were donated by Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers and Dolly USA.

"It gives the kids a chance to see the police officers doing something besides looking for crime," said Vernotis Williams, Police Officer. "Next time they see me, they'll remember these toys and realize that they can talk to me."

About $1700 worth of toys were donated. Valdosta Police officers hope to make the toy delivery an annual event.
