Albany-- Three more counties have been added to the Albany Metro Statistical area. That adds nearly 40,000 people to the metro population. Terrell, Baker, and Worth Counties are now part of Metro Albany.
Albany Chamber C.E.O. Tim Martin says the additional counties will mean little to Dougherty and Lee, but will help the three new counties. "It will add some points to their applications for federal funds. So if they need additional funds to hire a policeman or additional funds to add some infrastructure, water or sewer, it should make that application a little bit easier for them."
Martin says the five county chambers already work together in economic development, but now he hopes the additional metro counties will focus attention on the Albany area.
