Albany- Diabetes experts at Palmyra Medical centers say Georgians just aren't eating healthy and aren't getting enough exercise.

Now, the American Diabetes Association has also recommended a pre-diabetes screening for people who have abnormal blood sugar levels but not bad enough to be diagnosed as a diabetic.

"If you can catch those people in that pre-diabetes stages maybe you can prevent them from ever developing some of the horrible complications that go along with diabetes like the heart attacks, and strokes, and problems with your blood vessels," says Program Manager, Layne Cox.

Nationwide more than 6 % or 18.2 million people have diabetes.
