December 15, 2003

Fitzgerald- Plant workers are being exposed to amputation dangers, and now the company will pay for it.

Elixir Industries, Inc. has been cited by OSHA for the safety hazards. The plant was inspected in August.

Investigators found employees operating power presses that didn't have safety guards to keep workers' fingers, hands and arms from being pulled into the machinery.

Elixir will have to pay more than $48,000 in fines for endangering employees. The plant has been cited before for safety hazards.
