Albany-- Thousands of South Georgia veterans are taking advantage of benefits coming to them from the federal government.

Thursday, the State Department of Veteran's Service held a "Supermarket of Benefits" at the Civic Center, where Veterans learned about benefits available to them, including free hunting and fishing licenses, free car tags, and even tax breaks.

Pete Wheeler Commissioner of Veterans Affairs: "There are certain helath benefits and education benefits under the GI Bill for veterans. And, the can even get a free license through the State Patrol."

Veterans also received free flu shots and cholesterol screenings. If you missed the program, you can ask your local VA office for a list of benefits.
