Fitzgerald- After only seven months on the job, Fitzgerald High head football coach Robby Robinson is already looking for new work.
Robinson was informed Friday by school principal David Mims that he will not be returning next season as the Purple Hurricanes' head coach.
Robinson told us Monday afternoon that he was not given a reason for his dismissal, and that he was not allowed to meet with his team to tell them the news until 2:30 this afternoon.
Robinson came to Fitzgerald in the spring from Metter High, where he went 21 and 7 and took the Tigers to the Georgia Dome twice. In his first year at Fitzgerald this season, Robinson led the Purple Canes to a 7 and 5 mark and a trip to the second round of the playoffs.
He replaced Robbie Pruitt, who took the head coaching job at Warner Robins after three years at Fitzgerald.
Attempts to reach Fitzgerald principal David Mims for comment this afternoon were unsuccessful.
