Thomasville - The deadline is fast approaching for packages and letters to get military bases and other international addresses by Christmas. Thursday is the recommended mailing date to send packages by airmail to military bases.
Thomasville Postmaster John Gerleman says, "We've got the same basic number of employees all year long, we just have the increased work load. The increased volume requires a lot more time."
Here are the recommended mailing dates for Military Mail addressed to:
APO/FPO AE ZIPs 090-092, 094-99, AA ZIP 340, AP ZIPs 962-966: First Class Mail, letters/cards and priority mail- December 11.
Parcel Airlift Mail- December 4th.
Space Available Mail and Parcel Post- November.
APO AE ZIP 093-Dec 4th
For international mail addressed to Africa, Central and South America, Global Airmail Letters, Cards and Parcel Post must be sent by December 8th.
International Mail addressed to Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico, Europe and The Middle East should be sent by December 15th.
