MITCHELL COUNTY -  Blaine Cooper, 13, was visiting his grandfather, Bo Cooper, in Mitchell County yesterday when the wreck happened.

The elder Cooper said Blaine left his home to ride along Branchville Road, south of Camilla, when he attempted to jump a driveway.  A neighbor witnessed the crash and said he lost control of his Honda ATV.

The neighbor and emergency workers tried to give him CPR but Blaine was killed instantly.  Cooper was wearing a helmet, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Since June, there have been six deaths and at least two serious injuries from ATV accidents in South Georgia.  Five deaths occurred in a September crash in Coffee County when an Ambrose woman crossed the center line and struck a four-wheeler loaded with six children.  She was later charged with DUI.

The Cooper family will receive friends at Mathews Funeral Home Sunday afternoon from 3-5p.m.  Funeral services will be Monday at 3p.m. at Lessburg First Baptist Church.
