Valdosta - A South Georgia school band director has resigned amid allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.

A parent filed a complaint against Valdosta High Band Director Paul Pippen in October. Superintendent Sam Allen says the school board found no evidence of a physical relationship, but Pippen violated the school system's Code of Ethics.

"He had been emailing the student and calling her, and we consider that unethical according to our standards," said Allen.

Pippen had been band director at Valdosta High for six months.
