Spartanburg,SC- Wofford running back Kevious Johnson from Fitzgerald has named Southern Conference freshman of the year by the league's head coaches.
Johnson leads the second ranked Terriers in rushing this season with 582 yards and has scored 10 touchdowns.
The Southern Conference champions will host North Carolina A&T in the first round of the NCAA 1-AA playoffs on Saturday.
Georgia Southern fullback Jermaine Austin, last year's SoCon freshman of the year, was named offensive player of the year.
Austin rushed for more than 14 hundred yards for the Eagles whose finished the
season with a 7-4 record.
Austin is the third straight Georgia Southern player to win the offensive player of the year award in the Southern Conference.
Appalachian State defensive end K.T. Stovall was named the conference's defensive player of the year, Wofford's Mike Ayers is the coach of the year and Terriers guard Eric Deutsch won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy.
