State Patrol predicts holiday deaths

November 24, 2003

Thomasville -The state patrol and DMV predicts 21 people will be killed in car wrecks on Georgia roads this holiday. 3,440 traffic crashes are expected with 935 injuries.

SFC Kim Pittman says, "Half the fatalities during the holidays have been with not wearing seatbelts. The thing the seatbelt does is keep you in the vehicle, keeps you from bouncing around inside the vehicle, keeps you from getting ejected from the vehicle."

Nineteen people were killed on Georgia roads last Thanksgiving.
