Albany -- You can now have one number for your home phone and your cell phone. Also starting today, you can switch cell phone companies without changing your cell number.
Up to one million people are expected to jump on the changes. Cell phone companies are scrambling to hang on to customers and attract new ones.
Gray Link account executive Karen McDonald said "It's a very good time for consumers. As far as dictating the plans to suit your needs. So it's really a good time to go out, and compare each. Because there are so many out there, you can find something tailored to what you need."
It will be a while before South Georgians can start transferring their cell phone numbers. The service starts with people in the 100 most populated metropolitan areas first.
