Griffin-- The man killed when his plane hit a building in Griffin used to live in South Georgia.

A twin-engine plane hit the roof of the Stowe-Woodward building after taking off from the Griffin-Spalding County Airport Friday. The pilot, 47-year-old John Bennaman, is a former resident of Americus and has family in Albany.

Bennaman, a maintenance engineer with Gardner Aviation, was taking the B-55 Beech Barron on a test flight. His funeral was Monday.
