The cost of Trash going Up

November 18, 2003

Albany - People in Albany are getting a new garbage service, but at a cost. TransWaste Services has been hired to replace Onyx as the City's garbage collection company, starting in April.

Garbage fees will go up as much as $2.50 a month. "TransWaste offered the best proposal," said Public Works Director Phil Roberson. "They have experience, and they're a local company from here in Albany."

The City says garbage rates would have gone up anyway. And, Commissioners are still discussing just how much the rate increase will be come April.
