Thomasville--The Thomas University Lady Night Hawks loaded up the bus and headed to the airport Monday with dreams of a national championship very much alive.
The Lady Night Hawks earned the school's first ever national tournament birth over the weekend by defeating Auburn-Montgomery 2-1 to claim the Region 13 title. It is the first time any sports program from Thomas has advanced to the national tournament.
Thomas University will face Northwood-Florida Wednesday at 5:15pm ET in the first round of the NAIA Championships.
"It's a tough tournament with twenty of the best teams in the country. We're going to see how well we can do. Hopefully we can bring home a national championship," Thomas head coach Eric Faulconer said.
If the Night Hawks advance they'll face Concordia (Ore.) on Thursday at 5:30pm ET.
