Radium Springs still not available to public

November 14, 2003

Dougherty County -- Even after demolition work at the Radium Springs Casino site is complete, you will not be able to visit the springs.

Dougherty County will erect a fence across the vacant lot where the casino building was torn down.

The county owns the land where the casino building stood, between the road and the Springs. The State Department of Natural Resources owns the springs and the land between it and the river.

The county and the state hope to use Radium Springs for an educational and recreational center. But money to use the springs is not available, and state budget cuts could delay plans for years.
