Cook County- Roy Everett competes in the sport of pulling at race tracks around the country in trucks like these.

"It pulls a sled in competition," Everett said, owner of the Doerunner Pulling Team.

As someone who calls South Georgia home, he knows it's important to support the South Georgia Motor Sports Park being built in Cook County.

"We have about 16, 18 pulls a year in Georgia and we're interested in moving into this area," he said.

Tuesday, race fans packed the park's groundbreaking, with cameras flashing and engines revving. It's these fans and racers who will help bring in an estimated $37 million into Cook County each year.

"That's the kind of fans you want to tap into here and that's exactly what you're doing with those with racing in their blood," said Governor Sonny Per due.

Because of crowds twice the size of this one, a few years from now, the roads to get here will look a lot different.

"We're working with the property owner of the exit to do some improvements there by opening up a restaurant, a hotel and convenient stores and gas stations," said Keri Weldon, the economic developer for Cook County.

So the day the green flags begin waving, you can bet Everett will be there because he's pulling for this speedway.
