Albany - Three people, including two students, were injured when a truck rear ended a Mitchell County school bus. The accident happened around 4:00PM Tuesday just inside the Mitchell County line on US 19, near Baconton.

The bus stopped to let off students when a Chevrolet pick-up truck, driven by William Meredith, slammed into the back of the bus.

18-year-old Reginald Lockett and a 15-year-old girl were taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital along with the driver of the truck. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

All the other students on the bus were transferred to another bus and taken home.

54-year-old Meredith will be charged with following too closely. The bus driver, Mary Hudson, will not be charged.
