Thomas County is growing

November 7, 2003

Thomas Co. - Over the past ten years Thomas County has increased by 16 %, from 17,000 thousand to almost 20,000.

The Georgia Conservancy staff of the University of Georgia, met with County Commissioners to design a plan for land use and development. County Manager Mike Stephenson says, "It's just a great place to live, and we don't want the growth coming to change that."

The objectives of the growth blueprint are to increase residential areas while protecting prime agricultural land, and to encourage growth in areas where infrastructure is already in place.
