Lowndes County - The city of Lake Park elected a new mayor. Former Lake Park city councilman Jesse Fender beat Mayor Keith Sandlin in a close race, 102 votes to 95.

Back in August, Fender voted with two other city council members to have Sandlin removed from office. They accused the mayor of improperly reprimanding employees. But a superior court judge ruled in favor of Sandlin, and he kept his job.

Sandlin served as mayor of Lake Park for seven years.
