Rams' Curry player of the week again

November 3, 2003

Albany- The Albany State Golden Rams had two players to earn Southern Intercollegiate Athletic conference player of the week honors.

Offensive tackle Ronald Simmons is the offensive lineman of the week after he graded out at 97% in Saturday's 40-0 win over Benedict.

Junior defensive endWalter Curry is the defensive player of the week for the second straight week.

Curry had two quarterbacks, one for a safety and five tackles overall as the nation's top division two defense held Benedict College to just 115 yards of total offense.

Walter Curry, who has led the SIAC in quarterback sacks for the last two years, is again the sackmaster with 17 and has a chance of breaking the school and conference single season record.

Curry is more concerned about Albany State finishing the season with two wins.

"We've just got to finish out strong. We've got to take these last two games and we've got to win and win them big, like coach says," Curry said.

Albany State is back at home to play Morehouse. Kickoff is at one o'clock Saturday.
