Albany- The next round of base closures will take place in 2005. Senator Saxby Chambliss says until then bases like the Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base need to make sure they have a sound education program and that the servicemen and women stationed on the base have good recreational opportunities.

"As we move into the 2005 round of base closure I look forward to being able to stand up and say if Albany is compared to another base that by golly we're the best base when it comes to that comparison," says Saxby Chambliss.

The war in Iraq has created more work for the personnel at MCLB, but Chambliss says it's up to legislators to keep the number of missions done at the bases growing.
