(Johnson City, Tennessee-AP) -- Jermaine Austin ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns as Georgia Southern defeated East Tennessee State 34-22 today.
His first TD for the Eagles (5-4, 3-3 Southern Conference) was a 78-yard run early in the second quarter. ETSU (3-6, 0-5) trailed by a touchdown at the half, but Georgia Southern began to pull away on Austin's four-yard TD run in the third period and Chaz Williams' one-yard run early in the fourth.
ETSU put the final points on the board with a 14-yard blocked punt return by James Rainer, one of three blocked punts by the Buccaneers, and Michael George's 36-yard pass to Frank Green.
Terence McBride scored the first touchdown for Georgia Southern on a 91-yard interception return in the first quarter, after Sean Holland put the Eagles on the scoreboard with a 30-yard field goal.
