Albany- Monday night, Albany Police Officers gave tips for making it a safe shopping season.

First, try not to carry too many packages out of the store with you, and don't go shopping alone.

One of the biggest concerns this year is identity theft.

People need to "be aware that they're in company of other citizens and that there are persons out there that would like to take advantage of them and get this information and use it illegally," said Chief Bobby Johnson.

Also, try to avoid carrying a lot of cash or credit cards and be careful where you use your personal identification number.
