ATHENS, Ga.- Georgia junior David Denham of Tifton is one of the record 29 golfers chosen to participate in the 29th Annual Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic, set for Nov. 23-25.
The 2003 field was extended to 29 golfers due to the 45 eligible All-Americans.
The largest previous fields were in 1983 and 1997, when 27 golfers were invited to the tournament.
The tournament, hosted by the Sun Bowl Association, is played at the par-71, 6,781-yard El Paso Country Club.
Denham, an Honorable Mention All-America selection in 2003, recorded a 71.55 scoring average in the Bulldogs four fall tournaments. He led the Bulldogs with three top-20 finishes.
Throughout the years, many Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic competitors have gone on to pursue successful pro.
Some of the past champions include Ricky Barnes (2000), Notah Begay (1994), David Duval (1991), Matt Kuchar (1999), Davis Love III (1984), Jerry Pate (1974) and Tiger Woods (1995).
