Tech school dropout wanted in double shootings

October 17, 2003

Sumter County-- Law enforcement officers in two states are looking for a former Americus college student who is wanted in the September shooting of two Sumter County men.

The Fugitive Squad is on the hunt for 20-year-old Osvaldo Ossi Majil in connection with the September 22nd shootings of 18-year-old Jermaine Tullis and 24-year-old Antarus Jones.

For less than a year, he was a student at South Georgia Technical College, on scholarship for basketball. When he didn't make the squad for his sophomore season, Majil quit school in 2001. Investigators think Majil shot Tullis and Jones at their Sumter County home, but they do not think Majil worked alone.

"That's my understanding there is a second shooter," said Sumter Co. Sheriff Bob Ingle. "The victims have named only this person at this point. The investigation is on-going but we do have sufficient evidence that we do want this person here brought in."

It's not known why Majil was in Americus. He's address is in Lithonia, a suburb of Atlanta. He also has family in Montgomery, Alabama. The Fugitive Squad in Atlanta and authorities in Montgomery are helping in the search.
