Albany-- The landscape of downtown Albany is changing.

City leaders turned out for Thursday's groundbreaking at the new Albany Bank and Trust branch. The site on Pine Avenue, next to the County Courthouse, is the former location of a savings and loan.

AB&T President Bob Lee says picking downtown for their new branch was the best choice, "We want a presence down here. We are asked everyday when we are going to have a location in downtown Albany. Certainly when we created the bank this was in our master plan to be here."

The new AB&T will look a lot like their headquarters on Meredyth Drive, just smaller. Construction on the building starts next week. The doors will open in the Spring.
