Blazers have big expectations

October 16, 2003

Valdosta- Valdosta State Blazers Head Coach Jim Yarbrough, who has led the Blazers to 43 wins in the past two years, put  ten returning players and five new recrcuits through their first practice of the season Wednesday afternoon.

The Blazers just missed the Gulf South Conference tournament last year but with players like seniors Ernest Scott and Marcus Ghent and sophomore Jon Rogers back, Valdosta State is hoping to win their second Gulf South Conference Eastern Division title in the last three years.

Yarbrough said "I am very eager. I'm excited. I will be disappointed if we are not certainly not only in the conference tournament but scratching the surface in trying to get to the NCAA tournament. I am hoping for a very good year, very optimistic."

Valdosta State opens their regular season November 18th against Southeastern College at the VSU Complex.
