Rams ready for basketball season

October 15, 2003

Albany- The Albany State Golden Ram and Lady Ram basketball teams are so excited about the coming season, they were on the practice court at midnight on the first eligible day that Division II schools can hold an official practice.

Albany State students are excited about the coming basketball season with more than one thousand fans at the HPER gym for the school's midnight madness festivities.

After the Lady Rams played a short intrasquad game, it was time for the men.

Albany State returns the SIAC player of the year in senior guard Flem Tucker.

Tucker, who led the conference in scoring last year, will be surrounded by several new faces. Albany State has eight freshmen on the roster with head coach John I. Davis hoping the new talent can mix quickly with the returning players to give the Golden Rams their first winning season in six years.

Coach Davis "These guys that have come in with some credentials and that should make a difference. Some of them played on championship high school teams and they have high school awards, all region, all state. That should make a difference. I think this year we will have more talented athletes on the floor."

Albany State will open their season on the road on November 18th at Georgia College in Milledgeville. The Golden Rams first home game is November 25th against Clayton State.
