City Council to discuss paving roads

October 14, 2003

Thomasville - On Tuesday, City council members will discuss proposed plans to pave any dirt roads that remain in the city over the next 10 years. The total cost, $7 Million, but the city has already collected half of that money through SPLOST funds.

Most of the remaining cost will be covered by the Department of Transportation. City Engineer Steve Sykes says, "I think it effects the whole community. Whether you're a mail carrier, trying to deliver mail down a dirt road or an ambulance driver. It's important that we improve the roads of Thomasville and make roads accessible to all of our residents."

The council will also discuss plans for upgrades to sidewalks and installation of tree boxes along Madison Street.
