Alcohol license holders may be paying up

October 8, 2003
Albany- As across the board budget cuts are made, state revenue officials are trying to bring in more money, and they're looking to bars and restaurants for it.

More than three thousand alcohol license holders in Georgia owe back taxes.

Now, the state may pull their licenses if they don't pay up.

A Revenue Department investigation showed more than 17 percent of 17,000 license holders owe a total of $28 million.

The state has already started refusing to renew licenses if the businesses owe.
