Albany- There have been nearly 300 reported cases in Dougherty County since January, that's more than all the cases reported for the entire year of 2002.

Tifton Police Department has had 5 reported cases in the past 3 weeks.

"There has been an increase in the number of incidents that have been reported. I think that's why our numbers are up because now they are reported," says Detective Melissa Woods of Tifton Police Department.

Detectives also say parents and teachers are more aware of the warning signs displayed by a child who has been abused.
