(Macon-AP) -- Uyl Joyner passed for 169 yards and a touchdown and ran for 77 yards and another score and Daniel Dukes and Marcus Jefferson each returned intereceptions for touchdowns as Albany State overpowered Savannah State 56 to 0 today.
Joyner connected with Clenton Rafe on a 19-yard scoring pass in the opening period and scored in the third on a 35-yard run for Albany State (4-2). Both of the interception returns came in the fourth quarter, Dukes going 40 yards and Jefferson closing the scoring on a 30-yard return with 4:37 remaining.
Savannah State (0-6) hurt itself with six turnovers, four of them interceptions. Albany's other touchdowns came on a 15-yard run by Rodrick Williams, a 40-yard run by Dennis Sampson and a five-yard run by Antonio Atkins. Adrian Arango added field goals of 21 and 25 yards and the defense produced a safety.
The losing Tigers offensive star was Americus native Clyde Tullis, who passed for 107 yards and ran for another eleven.
