Tifton- The Tift County Commission approved Bill Park of Ackworth for the county administrator job and even sent him a contract, but Park has not formally accepted the position.
Commissioners say Park was the only qualified candidate out of 80 applicants, but the search committee did conduct three other interviews.
"If he chooses not to accept it, the proposal was made by the search committee that we start over again accepting applicants and searching for other applicants for the county commissioner's job. That's how strongly on the one selection that we made," says interim County Administrator, Roger Dill.
Under the open records law, a reporter from the Tifton Gazette requested the names of the three people interviewed. The board has not released the names saying Park was the only qualified candidate.
The reporter is unsure if a formal complaint will be filed against the commission.
