Fire department gets homeland security grant

Tifton- The Tifton fire department was awarded a $180,130.00 Homeland Security grant. The money will be used to purchase hazardous materials equipment including a new vehicle and training for firefighters.

"In our area this department is certified up through the operations level our goal is to get technician level and be available for the all hazard area 2 response," says Chief Mike Flippo.

The Tifton fire department was chosen to serve 23 counties as part of the Area Two response HAZMAT team.
