West Nile still threat in Fall

October 3, 2003

Tifton- In the past two weeks, three humans cases of West Nile have been confirmed in South Georgia.

Pathologists say just because we don't see as many mosquitos, you shouldn't take the threat of West Nile lightly.

"We shouldn't forget how important West Nile virus is and how dangerous it can be, and even with the cooler weather mosquitos are still out and we need to prevent their breeding and biting of humans," says pathologist, Jessica Leider.

Health professionals are still waiting on lab verification of two additional cases, one in Tift County and another in Ben Hill.
