Americus-- In the event of a terrorist attack, Americus will be on the forefront of any response.

The fire department is getting a $200,000 federal grant to pay for a mass casualty trailer. That trailer is equipped to handle one hundred victims.

Americus Fire Chief Steve Moreno says, "Within our region we will be responding if need be to anywhere in that region it could go as far as Spalding County and we can go all over the state that is the requirements of the grant."

The trailer also has an attached Haz Mat unit to clean up dangerous chemicals. The Americus Police Department is receiving $50,000 dollars for homeland security.
