Cordele-- An accidental animal shelter in Cordele needs help feeding hundreds of abandoned cats and dogs.

Paws and Purrs Animal Rescue is operated by volunteers--but most of the work is done by Katie Schrader. Schrader, an animal lover, says friends started sending abandoned animals they found to her farm. Now she has 200 cats and 23 dogs--and the number of abandoned animals keeps growing.

Schrader says, "Times are hard any way and people get pets because they are cute and they want something spur of the moment and then realize they don't have the time or money to take care of them."

Several business in Cordele are taking donations for the animal rescue shelter. Everything from food to bedding will be accepted. The drop off points are the Cordele Animal Hospital, Feed Company, and the B&W Farm Center.
