Americus-- Georgia Southwestern State University's most famous alumni are honored in a painting.

This portrait of President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn was unveiled in the university's library which is named after his father, James Earl Carter. The former President and first lady are pleased with how the portrait turned out.

President Carter says, "Luckily it's a very fine photographic portrait. I'm really proud that they put the administration building in the background because it shows very vividly not just what Rose and I look like but vividly shows our long-standing ties with Georgia Southwestern State University."

Not only did Rosalynn Carter graduate from GSW, but the couple's sons and several cousins also attended the school. The portrait will hang in the library, where the Carters send hundreds of books yearly, most from the Carter Center in Atlanta.
