Albany - Appleseed...also known as Harry Werner, was a teacher for more than 30 years...but he didn't want to stop educating students when he retired.
So, with an old pot, and some apples, he travels around the south teaching students important lessons through the character of Johnny Appleseed. Werner says the goal is, "To increase their ability to learn as far as inspiring them to read. This is an easy way and I'm having a lot of fun."
Werner says a teacher asked him to dress up as Johnny Appleseed 15 years ago, and he and the character went hand in hand.
