Tifton- Tifton Police and animal control officers confiscated 11 crack rocks and 24 badly abused pit bulls when they raided a Lindsay Street mobile home.

The dogs, some of them with visible wounds and signs of abuse, have been at the Tift County animal shelter since Thursday.

24 year old James Anthony Perry was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Michael Lockett was charged with cruelty to animals.

"We were looking around and all of a sudden one of the police officers found a shallow grave and there was a dog in there. It had probably been there about two days, and it had been fought. It was just mutilated. It was really bad, but all the other dogs were in very poor condition," says Regenia Wells, Director of the Tifton-Tift County Animal Shelter.

Police say the men could face additional charges. The case is still under investigation.
