Bryce celebrates a 1-2 finish at Memphis

September 23, 2003

Americus-Americus' George Bryce is all smiles even after the motorcycle he owns finished second at the NHRA's O'Reilly Nationals.

That is because Bryce serves as the crew chief for the winning motorcycle that is owned and driven by Reggie Showers.

Bryce didn't want to show any favoritism to either driver in yesterday's final so he told both sides to prepare their own bikes for that last run.

Reggie Showers earned the second win of his career when Fred Collis jumped the starting line by .005 ofa second.

Two straight wins for Reggie Showers and George Bryce have also moved their team to third in the season standings.

George Bryce said "We left our first race of the year at the Gatornationals 11th in points and we have marched our way right to the front. He is only one run out of second place and we go to Reading (Pennsylvania) next week and we going to try to move into second place."

As they prepare for Reading, George Bryce is already talking with Reggie Showers about teaming up next season and working on building a new motorcycle for Fred Collis to race in 2004.
