(Albany-AP) -- Riding high off an impressive start to the season, the Albany State Rams left Hugh Mills Stadium with a tough 19 to 13 loss at the hands of Kentucky State tonight in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.
Last year, Albany State would have won a share of the league title if not for a 30 to 27 loss at Kentucky State. But the Rams, after two big wins, had higher hopes this go-around.
The Rams jumped out to a 7 to 0 lead on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Joyner to Alvin Ray Jackson in the first quarter. The turning point came when Albany State was driving late in the first half and holding a 7 to 3 lead.
Antonio Atkins fumbled at the Kentucky State 17, and the Thorobreds drove for the go-ahead touchdown with 32 seconds left on a 26-yard strike from quarterback Joe McBride to Jeremy Douglas.
