Tifton - 1st Lieutenant Joe Urban spent nine months in Afghanistan. After seeing the poor condition of schools there... he decided something needed to be done.

He started a campaign to collect and send school supplies to Afghanistan. Urban thinks the easiest way to fight terrorism is to educate the people.

"I truly believe that that's one of the ways that you beat the terrorists," says Urban. "You give kids and this next generation an education, and then go from there."

The Tifton Kiwanis club is collecting supplies.

To donate supplies, contact Keith Rucker at the Tift County Agriculture Center. The address is 1468 Carpenter Road South, Tifton, GA 31793. The phone number is (229) 391-7980.
