Albany - Pearlie Johnson is the state's key witness. She was the owner of Top Quality Care, a personal Care Home in Albany. She confirmed for the prosecution, Dawson Mayor Roberty Albritten wrote false addresses, phone numbers, medical history and occupations on life insurance policies for her clients.
The mayor is accused of using the witnesses name on falsified insurance applications. More testimony was heard Thursday in the third day of Mayor Albritten's trial.
The state claims the Dawson mayor used false information to get extra money from the insurance company he works for.
Johnson, her husband Horrace and her mother, Annie Bell Latimer, are listed as beneficiaries and relatives of the personal care home residents. Assistant District Attorney Troy Golden asks Johnson, "Did you tell Mr. Albritten to write down you were the niece and your husband was the nephew?" She replies, "No. I didn't tell him to write anything."
Johnson says Albritten paid her cash when an insured resident passed away. She added he never gave her a receipt or signed any paper work. The trial will continue Friday.
