Albany-- A piece of history will be reconstructed this weekend.

A scaled replica of a 150-year-old bridge that once crossed the Flint River will be built near the Bridge House downtown. It's named after the man who built the original.

ATI Project Manager Tina Mitchell says, "Horace King was an emancipated slave and he built the first bridge over the Flint River for Colonel Nelson Tift. The original bridge was built in 1857. And we are going to recreate a bridge structure significant of that bridge."

Work on the Horace King bridge starts Sunday at 8 a-m. Construction is scheduled to wrap up Monday night. Volunteers are needed to help build the pine bridge replica--all are welcome, just take a hammer.
