Albany- Albany State quarterback Uyl Joyner is named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's offensive player of the week and the newcomer of the week for his performance in the Golden Rams' first ever win at West Georgia.
Joyner threw for over 200 yards and three touchdowns in Albany State's 34-7 win over the Braves.
It is the second straight year that Albany State faces Kentucky State the week after a big win.
One week after beating Tuskegee, Albany State lost 30-27 to the Thorobreds-- a loss that ultimately cost Albany State the SIAC title.
Albany State (2-1, 1-0) plays its home opener Saturday night against Kentucky State.
Kickoff atHugh Mills Stadium is at 7 p.m.
