Truck ruptures fuel pump

September 15, 2003

Albany -- Clean up of a diesel spill continues at a truck stop, after a truck smashed one of its fuel pumps.

About 10:30 Sunday night, a tractor trailer parking at the Jack Rabbit Store at Clark and Cordele Road ran over a pump station. More than 160 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into a city drainage ditch next to the truck stop.

Traffic was detoured around the store, until the fuel stopped leaking.

The E.P.D. was notified, and a private company has been cleaning up the affected area.

No one was injured, and there is expected to be no environmental damage caused by the fuel spill.
