Sycamore- Thursday night the Sycamore City council unanimously agreed to re-instate the city's police department. The vote reverses the council's decision in May to disband the small department.

Residents weighed in on the issue during a straw poll that ended Tuesday. Most wanted a police department.

The Turner County Sheriff's Department handled calls during the absence of police officers in the town of 499 people.

Mayor Wayne Woodruff says one full time and one part time police officer should be on duty next week.
