Pope enters Ward 4 race

September 8, 2003

Albany - A former Albany city leader wants to take back her city commission seat. Joann Pope will run for Ward 4, a seat she held for two years in the late 1990's. Bo Dorough holds the seat now.

Pope, a tri-athlete and retired city clerk, says the city overlooks senior citizens and has hurt all city employees by reducing insurance coverage. "We need to revamp the insurance package for all city employees. The commission balanced the budget on the backs of the employees," said Pope.

Qualifying for the November 4th election began Monday. So far, Dorough and Pope are the only two who've announced they're running for the Ward 4 seat.
